One of the most popular methods of holidaying in the UK is taking coach tours.  Taking a coach tour means handing over the reins to the company that is planning and running the trip, allowing tourists to sit back, relax, and enjoy the tour.  Whether it’s a short trip through the British countryside or a couple of weeks traversing across mainland Europe, it is a convenient and comfortable way to see the sights.

Coach holidays allow tourists to experience new places and beautiful scenery in a package-style holiday.  Half board and accommodation are usually included in the price, as are any ferry crossings.  It doesn’t mean merely staying in the UK; many operators go to mainland Europe, Ireland, and even further.  Stop offs at several destinations means that the journey is as much a part of the holiday as the destination.

Having a planned itinerary in advance allows guests to look forward to particular aspects of the holiday, while “free days” means they can explore at their leisure.

Luxury holidays with the family are a splendid way to enjoy each other without hurry and stress. For family friendly luxury holidays, consider the following locations.

Tenerife holidays

As the biggest of all the Canary Islands, this Spanish territory has something for everyone. Luxury Tenerife holidays with animal lovers should include Loro Park. This wildlife park contains many species of animals and boasts the world’s largest collection of parrots. For water lovers who hate beach sand, try Tenerife’s water parks, Aqualand or Siam Park. Budding scientists can visit the Izana Observatory in Mount Tiede National Park and gaze at the heavens or Tenerife’s famous volcano, Mount Tiede.

Seychelles holidays

Seychelles holidays on this picturesque archipelago of 115 islands east of the African coast have long been considered for honeymoon or romantic getaways. Increasingly, however, families are discovering Seychelles can be both a romantic getaway and a family holiday. Hotels featuring kids clubs that offer activities such as sand castle building, glass bottom boat tours and swimming activities will allow parents time for themselves. Self-catering rentals on secluded beachfront locations are ideal for families to lounge about or play as they please.

Maldives holidays

Maldives is not just for honeymooners anymore. Azure waters, white sandy beaches, lush landscapes and lazy ocean breezes await your whole family. With over 1,000 mini paradise islands spread throughout, finding perfect luxury holidays for the whole family can seem overwhelming.

When travelling with children, make sure that resorts touting a family-friendly environment have plenty for children of all ages.  There are many resort that feature kids camps packed with activities for children from age 3 to age 12.  Still other resorts will feature teen versions of adult activities such as dance clubs, water activities or tours.

Luxury holidays offering peaceful, serene surroundings are a great way to spend quality time and reconnect with loved ones. The most difficult task will be which of these luxury holidays to choose.

If you would like to explore Croatia accompanied by a local expert, you should seek the help of one of the guided tour companies. Small groups of tourists can comfortably enjoy guided tours of towns, beaches, and historic buildings and markets. Exploring Croatia in a group also gives you the chance to become acquainted with like-minded individuals.

There are tours taking in Diocletian’s Palace in Split, visits to local winemakers, exploring the island of Hvar and windsurfing at Zlatni-Rat Beach, all in one day. There are also tours that last for as long as ten days, taking in all the fabulous sights of the coast of Split and sailing the Mediterranean, hopping between the islands off the coast.

One advantage of taking guided tours is that the guides are either locals or foreigners who have settled for many years in Croatia and know every nook and cranny of the islands. Many of the guided tour operators also cater for people who are travelling alone and wish to stay in single accommodation, though it will cost a little more.

Visitors are never far from opportunities to spend their travel money in Ho Chi Minh City with shopping choices from cheap locally made goods to high-end luxury brand names.  There are numerous fake copies of the famous brand names to watch out for!

In the centre of the city, in District One, there are several shopping centres and the very popular Ben Thanh Market.

Ben Thanh Market

This centrally located market has a wide range of goods for sale including souvenirs, shoes, jewellery, fabric, clothing, household goods and food.  Goods are cheap although bargaining is encouraged, as many stalls have fixed prices.

Diamond Plaza

The Diamond Plaza is a good place to go for brand name cosmetics, good quality luggage, leather goods, footwear and clothing.  Upstairs there is a small area offering a selection of quick food and downstairs an excellent Highlands Coffee where you can linger awhile over a delicious steaming cup of coffee and watch the activities out on the street.

Saigon Centre

Three restaurants on the ground floor offer good dining and people-watching opportunities.  Highlands Coffee is an excellent place to spot overloaded motorbikes and marvel at the skill of the locals to juggle wares!  Upstairs there is a range of clothing, books and homewares.

This exists from the moment you step on board through to your dining experience, nightlife and entertainment. Nothing is too much trouble for the crew and you can be sure that everything is done with your comfort and safety in mind.

The Mediterranean islands have long been a popular destination for holidaymakers. Now, more choices than ever are available to all travellers.  The beaches of Croatia and nearby islands in the Adriatic Sea have much to enjoy. The island of Hvar, in particular has a good reputation.  With its mild weather, hot summer nights, beautiful beaches, natural landscape and picturesque port town, a holiday to Hvar offers decent value for money.

Hvar is located off the Dalmatian coast with ferry access from the Croatian ports of Split and Drvenik.  For those travelling by air, Split, Dubrovnik and the nearby island of Brac provide the nearest airports.  Hvar is the perfect spot for a beach holiday, but the more adventurous might want to head inland, which is rich in vegetation and attraction. This includes vineyards, olive groves, rugged hills and pine forests.  It is also famous for wild lavender, which can be found growing all over the island.

Guided walking tours, wine-tasting and boat hire are just some of the activities available. The capital city Hvar comes alive at night with many bars and restaurants based around the famous town square, which dates back to the 13th century.  The island is rich in culture with a long history as a trading post. Notable landmarks include the fortress overlooking the city and the Cathedral of St Stephen.  There is a good selection of hotels at reasonable prices, many with seafront views, while the Dalmacija beach lodge offers a great alternative for those who want to go to the beach during the day and to party by night.

With luxury accommodation becoming available and the island’s increasing popularity, Hvar isn’t quite the gentle retreat it once was, but cheap holidays can still be found.  With its sublime Adriatic beaches, good food and relaxed air, it’s more than a match for many of its more famous Mediterranean rivals.

It is considered the ultimate luxury holiday. Two weeks, or perhaps longer, on a cruise ship leisurely ploughing the ocean wide, with stop offs at exotic locations, excursions ashore to soak up a small piece of local life and buy some souvenirs as mementos of the occasion, and a wonderful range of entertainment, events and cuisine to enjoy.

A cruise is the perfect way to get away from it all and there are a huge range of possibilities to choose from. Perhaps the best known are those in the Caribbean, moving gently from island to island in the tropical sun, the startling blue of the sea reflected in the cloudless skies above.

Further south the scene changes dramatically, with cruise ships heading from Argentina down to the icy waters of Antarctica, perhaps stopping at the southernmost town in the world, Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, before moving on to witness the unique wildlife that the continent at the bottom of the world has to offer.

In the North Pacific Ocean, cruise ships offer passengers the opportunity to go whale watching in the chilly waters of Alaska, and to explore the stunning northern landscapes from the comfort of a floating palace.

In Europe there are many opportunities to sail through the Mediterranean Sea, stopping at historic locations along the way. Portugal’s capital Lisbon, destinations in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Spain can be a part of a Mediterranean cruise and a golden opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

Saigon River Express offers tourists a picturesque alternative to reach Cu Chi Tunnels as they go along the Saigon River.  It is possible to take the Saigon River Express both ways or go one way on the river and return by bus.

Cu Chi Tunnels, which are northwest of Ho Chi Minh City and are a complex maze, 75 miles long, once housed the Vietcong soldiers and people from nearby villages during the American War as it is known in Vietnam.

Cu Chi Tunnels are now an important tourist site.  Once at the tunnels, a young guide takes visitors on a trip through the area and into a tunnel giving a running commentary along the way.  It has been widened to allow the larger framed tourists to crawl through a section to get a taste of what it was like.  Guides share a little of the history and then visitors can see some video footage on the tunnels.  Every so often there is a crater in the ground made by a B-52 bomb.

Some of the rudimentary traps to snare soldiers during the war are also on display.  Sounds of gunshots away in the distance from the shooting range provide an eerie backdrop to a trip through these fascinating tunnels.  A souvenir shop sells t-shirts and other items made from bullets.  It is even possible to buy the sandals made from tyres that the Vietnamese wore.

Cu Chi Tunnels have an important place in the history of Vietnam and they are a sobering, yet fascinating place to visit.

One of the lesser-known destinations in France is a village that offers rural seclusion and quiet fun. Located on the island of Corsica, Figari is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud division of France. The commune originated from an ancient parish and is 43 kilometres southeast of Sartène.

Nature at its Best

Figari is where you can enjoy nature at its best.  Southeast of the island are exquisite beaches and the coastline between Figari and Pianotolli is carved with secluded coves.  The beaches of Palombaggia, St.Giulia, and Pinarellu are popular destinations.  The nature reserve that is made up of Scandola, Corsica and Gorges de Spelunca, Corsica offers travellers year-round adventure.

Villager’s Produce

One of Corsica’s oldest vineyards can be found in Figari and it produces its own wine label, AOC Appellation Figari. The Figari Gulf brings the pleasant dry breezes, which are ideal for the growth of olive trees.  The streets of this quaint Corsican village offer a selection of restaurants, street cafés and shops amidst a backdrop of sprawling plains dotted with olive trees. From these cosy shops visitors can stock up on local wine, cheese and olive oil. For a more sophisticated shopping treat, nearby Porto Veccchio’s old town is lined with designer shops and gourmet stores specializing in Corsican fare.

Night time entertainment in Figari is relatively quiet but nearby Bonifacio Harbour and Citadel have several bars.  The trendier bars are located in Porto Vecchio’s old town.  The Figari Sud-Corse Airport is three kilometres away from Figari, making it a convenient destination for quiet holidays.

The Caribbean is one of the top destinations for cruise deals, offering incredible beaches, weather and activities for all ages and interests.  As well as being a great opportunity for an exotic holiday in a captivating area, Caribbean cruises can also be very good value for money.  Sailing between islands on a cruise ship will almost always be cheaper than making your own way by air or ferry, so you are likely to see and experience much more than you would on a regular trip to the region.

When planning your holiday, the first thing to think about is the specific area that you would like to visit.  Most cruises in the Caribbean are either tours of the east, taking in islands such as Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia, or voyages around the western isles such as the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.  Each route has plenty to offer, so take a look at travel guides and other resources to see which one appeals to you the most.

Next, you will have to think about how long your holiday will last for.  A longer break will allow you to visit more islands, but it is still perfectly possible to get a good taste of the area in a week.  If time is more stretched than this or if you plan to combine a cruise with a longer holiday in the US, you could take a short voyage from Florida to the Bahamas, or from Miami to Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

Caribbean cruises are generally available all year round, but some months offer slightly more favourable conditions than others; so think carefully about your holiday dates.  The months from November to May usually provide the best weather, but cruises during this time are often more expensive than at other times of the year.  Booking off-season can be a great way to save money, but be wary of the period from early June to November, as there is a possibility of your voyage being delayed or diverted due to adverse weather conditions.
